Legacy is the official journal of the Society for the Study of American Women Writers. It is the only journal to focus specifically on American womens writings from the seventeenth through the mid-twentieth century. Each issues articles cover a wide range of topics: examinations of the works of individual authors; genre studies; analyses of race, ethnicity, gender, class, and sexualities in womens literature; and historical and material cultural issues pertinent to womens lives and literary works.The topics covered include literature, art, history, geography, archaeology, political science, law, philosophy, sociology, and Romance literature, and have a high academic status and influence in the field of Romance literature research.
